About The Co-Parenting Workshop
When parents decide to separate and divorce, they face the complex challenges of raising their children in separate homes while continuing to provide the love, connection, and security that kids need, especially as the family is transitioning. This 6-workshop series teaches parents how to positively lead the family through this transition; parents will explore how to co-parent effectively through the transition and for all the years after separation and divorce.
Your children need you to be positive, collaborative, effective co-parents. They need you to help them through this potentially devastating time in their lives. The Co-Parenting Workshop provides parents with the knowledge and training needed for effective co-parenting.
No matter where you are in the transition, we can help! You do not have to do this alone. Read on for some additional information about this workshop series:
- Co-parenting partners can participate in the same group, or one parent can participate solo.
- Each parent registers for the workshop separately.
- When a parent registers for The Co-Parenting Workshop, we schedule an individual meeting with each parent and Dr. Denise (45 minutes) so parents can get to know Denise and she can provide an introduction to the workshop series, answer questions parents may have, and identify specific goals to be achieved during the six sessions.
What will parents learn and practice in The Co-Parenting Workshop: Effective Co-Parenting is essential to your children’s well-being. Parents have the power to mitigate the effects of divorce with thoughtful, planful, child-focused parenting and co-parenting. In this workshop series, co-parents learn and practice essential skills for effective, child-focused co-parenting.
Co-parents learn how to stay centered and emotionally regulated as they create a new family vision with their co-parenting partner. Parents want to know: “What do I do when anger, sadness, distress, frustration, and our emotional history crashes over me and the present?” We learn and practice mindfulness skills and intentional communication that are essential to effective co-parenting.
Our Children Are Watching – Let’s Communicate Well! Developing co-parenting communication practices that are kind, solution-focused, and child-centered is necessary to mitigate the negative effects of separation and divorce on our children. Learning how to plan together, make decisions together, and work together effectively as co-parenting partners takes effort, persistence, and practice, but this effort has tremendous benefits for your children’s well-being!
Connecting with Your Kids After Separation & Divorce … Building a life so your children can thrive! In this workshop series, parents develop a vision for life after separation and divorce and take action steps to make this vision a reality so their children can thrive. We review how to discuss relationships, divorce, living in two families, connecting with parents that are living apart. We plan for answers to your children’s questions and problem-solve common challenges for children when their parents are divorcing. This workshop shares common developmental struggles for children and how to help children through these struggles.
